The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws (0-2, 0-3) on Sept. 3 were defeated by Pocahontas 25-8, 25-19, 25-7 in 4A 3 Conference action at the Auxiliary Gym, and the “B” Lady Chickasaws (0-2, 0-3) lost to the JV Lady Redskins 25-11.
The Blytheville High School 9th grade Jr. Lady Chickasaws (0-2) on Sept. 3 dropped 8-25, 4-25 4A 3 Conference games to Pocahontas. The Blytheville Middle School 8th grade girls lost 25-16, and the 7th-graders split, losing the first contest 25-8 but winning the nightcap 25-21.
The Blytheville Chickasaws on Aug. 30 were defeated at Marion 44-14 in nonconference football action to begin the season.
Blytheville Middle School’s eighth grade Junior Lady Chickasaws volleyball team on Aug. 29 lost to Brookland 6-25 in 4A 3 Conference activity at the Auxiliary Gym, and the seventh grade girls team was defeated 2-25, 2-25.
The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws volleyball team (0-1, 0-2) on Aug. 29 lost a 4A 3 Conference home match with Brookland 13-25, 7-25, 3-25 at the Auxiliary Gym. The “B” Lady Chickasaws also lost 8-25. The 9th grade Junior Lady Chickasaws were defeated 7-25, 9-25 in their opener.

The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws volleyball team on Aug. 26 lost three hard-fought games to Trumann 10-25, 15-25 and 20-25 at the Auxiliary Gym, and the “B” Lady Chickasaws were defeated by the junior varsity Lady Wildcats 21-25.
We want to address a very important matter which is being shared on social media.
On August 20, an Arkansas school district posted information they received from the FBI office located in Little Rock related to a possible school shooting in Arkansas (August 29th) and Kentucky (August 28th). The FBI could not confirm the source of the reporting party.
Although we are not aware of any threats to our county or city, Blytheville Public Schools is working closely with federal, state and local law enforcement about this matter. School Resource Officers and Blytheville Schools Commissioned Security Officers are present at every campus in order to protect students and faculty.
We will take all steps necessary to protect our children.

The Blytheville High School ninth grade Junior Lady Chickasaws on Aug. 20 played in the Palestine-Wheatley preseason jamboree, losing to Palestine-Wheatley 25-23 but defeating Helena-West Helena 25-16.
This morning our district faculty met as a team and we were proud to welcome Jennifer Blankenship into her new role as BHS principal! Ms. Blankenship said, “I’m humbled by this opportunity and I am looking forward to serving our staff, students, school district, and community in this new capacity. I appreciate the outpouring of support and I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve.”
