Welcome to the Academic Excellence Afterschool Program!!!!

Blytheville Primary School is extremely excited about the opportunity that has been afforded to our students by Tenaris.  Tenaris became a part of our community 4 years ago when they acquired Maverick Tube Corp.  They are one of the leading employers in Mississippi County.  Their focus and commitment to the communities they are located in is astounding.  After settling into the community they began to research and discover areas where they could be of assistance.  After speaking to several community leaders and members the desire was the same, an afterschool program for our kids.  Since supporting education in the communities where they are is a priority for Tenaris this type of programming is something they were excited to support and develop.

The Academic Excellence Program began September 7, 2010 on the Blytheville Primary School Campus.  During the first year enrollement was open only to Blytheville Primary School students.  Open enrollment for those first and second grade students began June 1, 2010 and the program met its 150 student capacity by the first week in August. The program offered academic, social, and emotional enrichment opportunities for the students.

Due to the academic success and support surrounding the program, the decision was made in July 2011 to expand the program to the 3rd and 4th grade campus, Central Elementary School.  The 2011 - 2012 school year will begin a new chapter in the Academic Excellence Program as we embrace this expansion.

Programming will be in session Monday - Thursday 3:00 - 5:30 pm beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2011.  Interventions, homework help, book clubs, math clubs, social/emotional curriculum, and enrichment opportunities will be offered to 150 students on EACH campus.  Also, daily bus transportation and healthy snacks will be provided.
