State and federal guidelines require that all special education due process forms and records be destroyed within six years after a student leaves the school district’s special education or speech therapy program. The parent or legal guardian has the right to view and obtain his or her child’s due process records, which are available at the Blytheville School District’s Administration Building each Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The records which are not picked up by the parents or legal guardians of these Blytheville School District students will be destroyed Aug. 24. These records are not the child’s permanent school records, but only the special education due process forms and records.

Contact Jean Cole, the district’s director of Behavioral Support Services, at 762-2053 with any questions or concerns about these records.
